Care for the Environment.

Care for Animals.

Care for the Community.

Roots and Shoots is a worldwide organization aimed at “engaging and inspiring youth through community service and service learning.” It was founded by Dr. Jane Goodall in 1991, when 16 students in Dares Salaam, Tanzania approached her with concerns for the environment and its animals. There are now more than 7,500 groups ranging in size from two to two thousand in over 90 countries across the globe.

NIS’s Roots and Shoots club began two years ago and is the only Roots and Shoots club in Thailand. Despite humble beginnings, NIS R&S have been able to come a long way and have introduced a lot of new projects in the NIS community. We have established ourselves as a long-term club and can safely say we have made an impact in our immediate community. Now our goal is to go beyond our school, and help the Chiang Mai community.
